The Northern Alberta Institute of Technology has one the the largest (over 50,000 students world wide) and most popular training programs in North America. Our Board of Education has partnered with them to offer their Optical Science program which leads to a two year Diploma  with an additional three years of academic education available through the Registered Opticians Association of Texas. If a student has already earned the ABO certification status, they only need to take the second years training in order to earn a two year Diploma.

The Fall class will begin 0n September 15th, 2008 with a cut off on all new registrations of September 1st, 2008. The cost is $2000.00 per year and currently all ABO certified Opticians may receive a full years credit towards a potential two year diploma in Optical Science. The course of study is designed to allow working Opticians to learn through the use of their home computer. It has two major exams that the ROATx Board of Education will monitor each year: a Mid-Term Exam (which will be held in conjunction with a hands-on lab - location to be announced) and a Final.
